Nikon mirrorless camera rumors: the most likely scenario

I already started receiving small bits and pieces about the new Nikon mirrorless camera and here is the recap (old and new info combined): The official announcement of the new Nikon mirrorless camera is rumored for shortly before Photokina while shipping is expected to start a month after Photokina ( there were already multiple reports for an announcement in the second half of 2018, see also this  and  this  post) The new Nikon mirrorless camera  will definitely be on display at Photokina  in September One new camera and two new lenses will be announced first (for Photokina) with another batch of lenses following shortly after (4-6 months after Photokina) I was told that Nikon is currently developing a large number of new mirrorless lenses and this is a priority The most likely scenario is for a full frame mirrorless camera  first (APS-C model will probably follow later, but I am still not sure about that) New Nikon mirrorless Z-mount  - confirmed by multiple sources (could still be called something else) Nikon is putting a lot of R&D in the viewfinder Very sophisticated new F-mount adapter  - also confirmed by multiple sources Two electric AF motors  (no new info) Related posts: A quick update on the rumored Nikon full-frame mirrorless camera Z-mount Nikon’s upcoming mirrorless camera rumored to have a new Z-mount with 16mm flange focal distance Nikon: new mirrorless camera will be brought to market by next spring

A quick update on the rumored Nikon full-frame mirrorless camera Z-mount

A quick update on my last post about the rumored new full-frame mirrorless Z-mount from Nikon: the measurements I reported caused some confusion in the comments section – my understanding is that the external diameter of 49mm is the actual mount opening, the entire external diameter of the mount is going to be 65.4mm (just received this update): Mount diameter (opening): 49mm Total diameter of mount: 65.4mm Flange focal distance: 16mm The top graph by Eric Calabros shows a comparison between Nikon Z-mount and Sony E-mount: the Z-mount has more than 6 degrees advantage over E-mount (important for wide angle and fast lenses).
