Another Nikon event on September 25th

Nikon Germany sent invitations made out of chocolate for an event that will take place on September 25th at 7 pm CET – this is the day before the official opening of the 2018 Photokina show (September 26-29): Im Büro: „Lecker – möchte jemand ein Stück Pressemitteilung?“ #Nikon #NikonZ6 #NikonZ7 pic.twitter.com/yzftmK4Qhb — Sebastian Trepesch (@Trepesch) August 14, 2018 I have no idea what will be announced on that day. We should get the mirrorless cameras  on August 23rd and the new Nikkor 500mm f/5.6E PF ED VR lens shortly after. There is a Nikon DSLR camera printed on the packaging if this can be an indication for anything

Nikon released their first quarter financial results

Today Nikon released their financial results for the first quarter of the year ending in March, 2019. The headline from Business Insider is: ” Nikon Q1 Profit Climbs, Revenues Down; Lifts FY19 Earnings View ” -  here is a quick recap: Profit climbed 83.8% to 16.34 billion yen from 8.89 billion yen last year. Earnings per share were 41.10 yen, up from 22.37 yen a year ago

The Vanishing Portals of Myanmar by Julian Ray ( Instagram  |  ello.co  |  website , click for larger view): Nikon D850, 24-70mm f/2.8 Mingun Pahtodawgyi Near Mandalay -The Mingun Pahtodawgyi (မင်းကွန်းပုထိုးတော်ကြီး, IPA: [mɪ́ɴɡʊ́ɴ patʰóu dɔ̀ dʑí]) is an incomplete monument stupa in Mingun, approximately 10 kilometers (6.2 mi) northwest of Mandalay in Sagaing Region in central Myanmar (formerly Burma). The ruins are the remains of a massive construction project begun by King Bodawpaya in 1790 which was intentionally left unfinished. The pahtodawgyi is seen as the physical manifestations of the well-known eccentricities of Bodawpaya.

What to expect next from Nikon and some new hints about announcement dates

After the previously rumored  Coolpix P1000 camera and Nikkor AF-S 500mm f/5.6E PF ED VR lens were officially announced, here is an updated list of what to expect next from Nikon – there are still 4 already registered but not-yet-announced Nikon cameras ( see previous “what to expect posts” here ): No news on a potential Nikon D750 replacement, but at least two new high-end cameras are rumored for 2018. Nikon D6 is rumored for 2019 – the D6 trademark is already registered (there will most likely not be a D5s).
