Two New Lenses Coming From Canon Next Week [CR3]

We’re told that the date is finally upon us and we can confirm that Canon will announce two new lenses next week. At the time of writing this, I’m not sure if it’ll be Tuesday or Friday of next week, but we should know in the next 24 hours or so.

Canon Patent application for more apodization filter lenses

Canon adds another patent application for apodization filtered lenses, this time for; 135/2.0 400/2.8 185/3.5 I’m not sure about the utility or expense of a 400/2.8 with such a filter, but a 135/2.0 sounds interesting. Japan Patent Application 2018-049102

I am not sure if this is a mistake, but the Nikon UK store lists the Nikon AF-S Nikkor 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR lens as discontinued (this listing has been online at least for a few weeks): The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR lens was announced in March 2013 and it’s currently  in stock in the US . In the UK WEX is “awaiting stock”  while Amazon and Jessops have the lens in stock. Tokina to Announce Opera 50mm f/1.4 FF

Not to be outdone, Tokina plans to announce a Opera 50mm f/1.4 FF ahead of CP+. Canon shooters have been waiting a new 50mm for quite some time, I’m not sure this is what they were thinking.
