Patent: Canon Wide Angle Zoom for Full Frame Mirrorless Camera

A patent for an optical formula showing  a wide angle zoom lens for a full frame mirrorless body has appeared. It looks like this patent is for a 16-30mm f/2.8 and has a short backfocus of 11.34mm, which tells us it’s not for a DSLR

The new Sigma 70mm f/2.8 DG Macro Art full frame lens will not be available for Nikon F-mount

Today Sigma announced the price and availability of their new Sigma 70mm f/2.8 DG Macro Art full frame lens that will be available for Sigma, Canon and Sony E mounts but not for Nikon F-mount. The reason is because Sigma is using a new autofocus motor (similar to the  Nikon AF-P lenses ). Here is the exact quote Sigma’s CEO Kazuto Yamaki gave Focus Numerique in an interview a few months ago: As for the Nikon mount, this comes from the new autofocus motor that we have implemented for this purpose.

Nikon: new mirrorless camera will be brought to market by next spring
