Nikon’s 2018 financial results are out

Today Nikon announced their financial results for the year that ended March 2018. As previously reported , profit is up for the entire company – here are the key numbers with relevant data from the Imaging Products Business: Operating Profit: ¥56.2 billion (¥55.5 billion increase from last year, ¥3.2 billion above estimates) Imaging Products Business: fixed cost reduction and focus on high-value-added products increased profit despite market shrinkage Annual dividend increased to ¥36 per share from previously forecasted ¥31 in (previous year: ¥16, more info here ).

DxO Labs Goes Bankrupt, Will Not Affect DxO PhotoLab or Nik Software Collection Customers

DxO Labs have issued a statement saying that they have chosen to file for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection. Despite this, the company is planning to release version 1.2 of DxO PhotoLab and a new version of the Nik Software Collection in June, following the process of restructuring the business

Sony executive predicts that Nikon will release a new full-frame mirrorless camera in the next 12 months

I am not sure if anyone will be surprised by this statement, but Dpreview reports that during their interview with Sony at the CP+, Kenji Tanaka (Sony Senior General Manager of the Digital Imaging Business Group) shared his personal opinion that Nikon will announce a new full-frame mirrorless camera in the next 12 months: “This is just my personal opinion, but I think that maybe by next year’s CP+ you’ll see full-frame mirrorless cameras from Canon and Nikon.
