The firmware update for the cross-type sensors at the outer areas of the frame is still not released (for Nikon D5, D850 and D500)

Time seems to stand still at Nikon. When the Nikkor 180-400mm f/4E TC 1.4 FL ED VR lens was announced, Nikon promised ( in the press release ) to release a firmware update for the D5, D850 and D500 that will make the outer row of AF points activated as cross-type sensors to significantly enhance the AF coverage throughout the frame.

Sigma Releases New Firmware for Select Lenses, The Mount Converter and Flash

Sigma has released new firmware for  the following flash, mount converter and lenses. Sigma flash and mount converter with the following firmware updates: ELECTRONIC FLASH EF-630 It has corrected the phenomenon where it occasionally stops communicating after recovering from Auto Power Off

ASML and Zeiss win the patent lawsuit filed by Nikon

Last year Nikon sued ASML and Carl Zeiss over patented semiconductor lithography technology. The court in The Hague dealing with intellectual property has ruled that ASML and Zeiss have not violated any Nikon patents: “The judge bent on a patent from Nikon that was applied for in 2004 and granted in 2015.
